The warmer Spring weather is finally upon us. While you may be craving to step outside and feel the sunlight on your face while the birds are chirping, you can also experience the Spring season inside of your own apartment as well. Once you’ve completed your seasonal Spring decluttering and deep cleaning, it’s time to re-decorate for the new season full of color, light, and joy. Here are some tips on creating a Spring aesthetic for your apartment.

Add Greenery and Flowers

Who said greenery and flowers only grow outdoors? Stop by your local florist or farmer’s market and grab some fresh greenery or your favorite flowers to liven up your space and add some color. If you don’t want to worry about keeping them alive, or you want to save money, you can opt for faux decorative greenery or flowers instead. Arrange them nicely in a vase and add them to a windowsill, shelf, or table in your apartment.

Emphasize Color

When many people think of Spring, they envision pastel and bright colors. Bringing in these colors when decorating your apartment can help create a Spring aesthetic. The best part is, you don’t have to go overboard with adding color to everything. Even the simplest pops of bright colors can really transform a space. Try adding brightly colored throw pillows on a bed, adding a pastel throw rug, or draping a Spring patterned blanket over the couch to help brighten up your apartment.

Transition from Heavy to Light

During the colder months we often want to bundle up and get cozy in our space. This means having a variety of warm throw blankets around, a heavy comforter on our bed, and heavy thick curtains on the windows to keep the light and heat inside. However, with warmer Spring air, the first thing many people want to do is transition to lighter solutions. Swapping heavy throw blankets for lighter material ones will save space and keep you cooler. Pack away your heavy quilt or comforter as well and opt for a cooler blanket on your bed at night. You may want to consider cooling bed sheets as well instead of the standard cotton or fleece material. Lastly, consider changing your curtains to a lighter color or material. This will help allow more sunlight to enter the space and help create a Spring aesthetic in your apartment.

Use Scented Candles

Lighting scented candles can also help with creating a Spring aesthetic for your apartment. Scents that mimic fresh air, flowers, baked goods, and fruits can fill your brain with thoughts of Spring. Popular scents include Lavender, Fresh Linen, Rose, Lemon, and Mint. You can grab a few candles from the store or even purchase a wall plug-in or diffuser to distribute the scents of Spring throughout your apartment. Before you do though, be sure to abide by any restrictions in your rental lease.
